Why people level up

What a higher Steam level gives you

More friends

Friend cap grows by 5 per level from a base of 250, up to 2,000.

Profile showcases

One showcase per 10 levels, up to 20. Showcases display games, badges, screenshots and more.

Better booster odds

Each 10 levels raises your booster-pack drop chance by about 20% relative to the base rate.

Badge colour and shape

The level badge changes colour every 10 levels and shape every 100.

Top-friends visibility

Profiles show only their six highest-level friends, so a higher level gets you seen.

Crafting drops

Every badge craft also gives a random emoticon, a profile background and a chance at a game coupon.

How it works

Levels are badges, badges are card sets

Steam grants 100 XP every time you craft a complete trading-card set into a badge. That is the whole mechanic. The XP needed per level rises by 100 every ten levels, which is why level 100 takes 550 crafts.

  1. 1

    Check the gap

The calculator shows XP and card sets between your level and any target.

  2. 2

    Get complete sets

Play for drops, buy cards on the Market, or have full sets delivered by trade offer.

  3. 3

    Craft

About ten seconds per badge. A normal badge crafts five times per game; sale badges are uncapped.

Frequently asked questions

How do I level up my Steam account?

Craft complete trading-card sets into badges. Each craft is 100 XP. You can earn cards by playing, buy the missing ones on the Community Market, or have complete sets delivered by a service and craft them yourself.

How much XP do I need for Steam level 100?

55,000 XP, which is 550 badge crafts. The XP per level rises by 100 every ten levels, so levels 91 to 100 cost 1,000 XP each.

What does it cost to reach Steam level 100?

Level 100 needs 550 sets from zero. In our 2026-09-13 comparison, an optimized self-built basket was about $200, while the median-set benchmark was about $413. SteamLevelForge is currently about $0.30 per set with TF2 keys or $0.38 through PayPal/card; check its live calculator because rates move. Crafting takes about 90 minutes after delivery.

Is this site the same as SteamLevelForge?

Same team, different job. Steam Level Store publishes the guides, calculator and data. SteamLevelForge is the store that sells and delivers card sets. Every link to Forge on this site is labelled.
