How to Craft a Badge on Steam and Fix the Button

Open your profile’s Badges page, choose a game with a complete card set, and select Craft Badge. Steam consumes the set and adds 100 XP to the account.

How do you craft a badge on Steam?

You need one of every card in a game’s set. Open Profile, choose Badges, select the completed set, inspect its value, and press Craft Badge. A normal game badge can repeat five times; each craft consumes another complete set and gives 100 XP.

The animation reveals the new badge level and reward items. Check your account XP afterward, especially when planning several crafts toward a target.

Why is the Craft Badge button greyed out?

Do not use a login link from a direct message to “repair” crafting. Steam will not require an outside bot to enable its own badge button.

What do you receive besides XP?

A normal game-badge craft typically produces badge artwork and Steam reward items such as an emoticon and profile background under the current card system. Event-specific rewards can differ. The XP remains 100 regardless of the cosmetic outcome.

How do foil badges work?

Foil cards form a separate, rarer set. Completing it enables a foil badge with distinct art. That badge crafts once and grants 100 XP, so use foil cards for collecting rather than efficient leveling unless their cosmetic value is the goal.

How many badges does your target need?

Badge crafts and card sets are the same count for standard leveling: one complete set per craft. The account-level XP curve rises every ten levels, so use the calculator instead of multiplying level difference by one set. The badge types reference explains which badges follow other rules.

What should you check before crafting?

Start with the set’s replacement value. Steam consumes every card permanently, and the resulting emoticon, background and coupon are random. If a set is unusually expensive, selling its cards after fees may fund several ordinary sets that grant more total XP.

Then check the badge level. “Ready to craft” confirms that one complete set exists; it does not tell you whether this is craft one or craft five. Open the badge details and verify how many normal levels remain. Keep foil cards separate, because a normal slot cannot be filled by its foil version.

For a large session, note total XP before starting, complete a small group, and confirm the expected increase. This catches an incomplete delivery or mistaken count before hundreds of crafts make reconciliation difficult.

How long does bulk badge crafting take?

The animation and confirmation sequence commonly take about ten seconds per badge when performed manually. Ten sets for level 10 take a few minutes. Forty-five sets for level 25 are roughly eight minutes; 150 sets for level 50 are about 25 minutes; and 550 sets for level 100 are about 90 minutes.

These are active-use estimates. Client performance, network delay and how carefully you inspect rewards can make the session longer. A service can remove card acquisition work, but it cannot remove this Steam-side step without controlling the account, which you should never permit.

What changes after a craft?

Steam adds the badge XP to the account total. If that crosses a level boundary, the numeric profile level updates. Each ten-level boundary changes the profile badge color and can unlock another showcase; each hundred begins a new badge shape family.

The crafted game badge appears in the profile collection and can be featured. Reward items enter inventory and may be tradable or marketable under their own restrictions. A discount coupon can expire, so inspect it before assigning it any value.
